Makeup Revolution Haul
I have brought A LOT of palettes today! Makeup Revolution is brand i have used for a long time now, they are super affordable and have recently brought out some beautiful new products. Since i first discovered Makeup Revolution i have noticed they have changed the formula in some of their products as now they are better than ever. I have watched a lot of beauty bloggers and read a lot of reviews to see which palettes are worth getting and which ones aren't. So i made a list of the ones i wanted to try and have been highly recommended and thankfully they were all in stock today. It's useful to mention that Superdrug have a 3 for 2 sale on at the moment. So in total i bought 9 palettes (one is a christmas present) so i basically got three for free and only paid for 6. BARGIN! It worked out a lot cheaper than i expected. They are also doing a limited time only deal where if you buy a '3 for 2 offer' on any beauty product you get a free fluffy key ring, which are adorable. So i got three. The palletes i got are as followed: 1. Blush Palette in Blush Queen (first row, second picture) £6.00 2. Highlighting Powder Palette in Highlight <they have another called radiance> (third row, first picture) £8.00 3. Redemption Palette in Mermaids vs Unicorns (fifth row, first picture) £4.00 4. Ultra Professional Contour Palette (second row, second picture) £6.00 5. Ultra Brow in Fair to Medium (second row, third picture) £7.99 6. 32 Ultra Professional Eyeshadows in Mermaids Forever (fourth row, second and third picture) x2 £8.00 7. 32 Ultra Professional Eyeshadows in Flawless Matte (third row, third picture) £8.00 8. 32 Ultra Professional Eyeshadows in Flawless Matte 2 (third row, second picture) £8.00 Blush Palette in Blush Queen I don't usually wear blusher as i naturally have very pink cheeks, and feel that blusher really does over do it for me. However when i picked up this palette i noticed the colours are very shimmery. I swatched these in the shop on the back of my hand and to me they didn't look like blush shades. I will be using these as highlighters as i feel they are way to shimmery to use as a blush on my very pale skin tone. Some people wouldn't like this as they would be expecting a blush palette but i really don't mind. The texture to these is very creamy and blendable. The only downside i would say is there isn't much of a variety of shades, once swatched on my hand they all looked the same colour. Maybe there was a distinction between a lighter rose pink towards a bubblegum pink. But there's no in-between. So if you are looking for a variety of matte blushes this palette isn't for you but if you are like me and love anything glittery, this palette will be great as a pink/champagne highlighting palette. 6/10 Highlighting Powder Palette This is the first palette i picked up when i walked over to the stand as something about it caught my eye. Recently i have been loving lavender shade highlighters. I think they look really vibrant and different on my skin tone so i was happy to find that this palette included one. It has three big pans in this palette with a huge mirror. A pearl shade, champagne shade and the lavender shade that i just mentioned. These three colours are my ideal highlighting colours. When i swatched these on the back of my hand the pigmentation was incredible. They didn't appear to be overally powdery, they definitely aren't cream however i would say they are somewhere in the middle between cream and powder. The mirror is convenient for travelling as i love having a huge mirror with me, theres nothing negative i could say about this palette! 10/10 Redemption Palette in Mermaids and Unicorns This palette cost me £4. Thats incredible for the range of colours that are within this palette. From the greens, to the blues, to the pinks and purples, right down to the reds. I think this palette is great quality for money. When i swatched some of these shades on the back of my hand they are very pigmented and blended out quite easily. They have quite a chalky consistency and can have a lot of fallout so when applying these to your eyes i would suggest simply using a little powder after to just brush away any fallout under your eyes. There are a selection of matte to shimmery shades however they all look like they have a little sparkle to them, so if you are wanting a complete matte shade you may have to use another palette. This one also doesn't come with a mirror which is disappointing, but for £4 you can't complain. I'm not going to give it a rating out of 10 yet because i haven't use these on my eyes, but when i have used this palette i will give it a score. Ultra Professional Contour Palette This palette has been highly talked about across the beauty blogs i read. People have been saying that this is their new drug-store favourite contour palette, i heard someone else compare this to the Anastasia Contour Kit. I haven't used this palette on my face yet however from the swatches these bronzing shades look perfect for my skin. I have found that with a lot of drug-store brand the shades of brown are very warm toned. A lot of caramels don't look good on my pale skin, so i was happy to find a very dark bronzing shade within this palette. On the first row there's a salmon shade, a banana colour a pearl colour and a very icy white highlighter with strips of gold in. On the bottom row theres three bronzers and a glittery bronzer too. I'm not sure when i'll use the glittery bronzer but the other colours will be very useful. I love the consistencies of these powders they are very creamy and a dream to apply and blend out onto the face. The icy toned highlighter is very pigmented so i can't wait to cover my face in that. 9/10 Ultra Brow in Fair to Medium I am not one to fill in my eyebrows, i don't know how to do it or how to make my brows look sharp and defined like some of my friends can. But i am willing to keep trying. I have very fair hair in my eyebrows so finding tones to match it it is very difficult. This palette includes a variety of shades i feel will suit just about anyone. There's two wax's, four different eyebrow shades, a highlighter and some concealer to clean up the edges and make them look neat and polished. If that wasn't enough the kit also comes with a huge mirror, a pair of tweezers, and two brow brushes. I haven't tried this palette out so i can't comment on the consistency of the products yet however i'm excited to give this a go. I can't give this a score out of 10 yer because i haven't used it, but when i do i will be sure to let you guys know! 32 Ultra Professional Eyeshadows in Mermaids Forever Can we just take a minute to talk about the packaging. The palette comes in an almost metallic looking shiny aqua blue box. Which is stunning! Makeup Revolution have killed it with the packaging for this product, i love it! This particular palette contained 32 eyeshadows, some are matte, some are shimmery and some are metallic. Firstly these colours come in very small pans, i'm guessing that is so they can fit all the 32 shades in there. Each and every shade is incredible! It again comes with a huge mirror which is amazing for on the go and travelling which i do a lot. Focusing on the shadows the mattes aren't very pigmented at all which is a shame. However the shimmery shades and metallic shades are very highly pigmented. They give a lot of colour pay off, but i definitely feel you need to use a primer as a base with some of the bold colours just to make the shadows pop. 7/10. 32 Ultra Professional Eyeshadows in Flawless Matte and Flawless Matte 2 I'm going to talk about these palettes together as i feel they are very similar. In total i have 64 matte shades to play around with. I love using matte eyeshadows as an everyday look, just chucking 2 or 3 colours on my crease and on my lid can completely transform your everyday make up, so I'm excited to properly try these on my eyes. When i was in the shop i did swatch a few on my hand. Unfortunately some of these matte shades have no pigment whatsoever. A lot of them really do and are absolutely gorgeous colours, but there are a fair few that don't work well for me. For some people this would bother them but for me i really don't mind, i feel that 64 eyeshadows are plenty to find a right combination for you, and you can create many looks with these colours. The ones i have tried are extremely creamy and blend together so beautifully. It's just a shame that Makeup Revolution aren't consistent with their formulas in some palettes. I know other people that are having the same problems, but for £16 for both of them i feel that's a small problem for such beautiful palettes. 7/10 Overal i am very happy with my purchases i made in the Makeup Revolution stand, i feel there are some real gems in their collection which can easily compare to some of the high-end brands i have. The highlighters and contour shades i am the most excited to try, they are so creamy, pigmented and very easily blendable. I feel each and every palette i brought is very much worth the money i paid for it, and i would 100% recommend them to you!! Thank you so much for reading! Lauren xox
